Great update 2018
Exactly three months it took me to prepare this update! About what is waiting for you in this update and what are my plans for the near future read more.
Before I go to the description of the update an important note - since the whole plugin should be updated, possible problems are not excluded. Therefore, you can update the plug-in "forced" - just close all Autodesk applications (Revit and / or AutoCAD), disable the auto-update module and safely unzip the plug-in archive with overwriting all the files.
The most important innovation is the localization of the entire plug-in. And this means that the whole ModPlus plug-in can now support different languages. As expected in such cases - there are currently two languages: the native language of the plug-in is Russian and the most common is English. This will begin to bring the plug-in to a new level, namely, to a foreign user. The reasons and advantages of this my desire to speak will not, I think, and so it is clear.
By the way, it is worth noting that localization is also done with versioning support. This means that I can update the language files (or add new ones) without updating the entire plugin. In this case, new versions will be installed "quietly" - without requests and notifications.
The second important innovation touched Configurator – it was completely rewritten! Now it will work more stably, because its code has become much better. Of the large changes in the plugin I want to note two - a simplified display of the history of changes (for speed and overall stylistics) and a completely redesigned mechanism for working with the adaptation menu. Almost all buttons are removed in the menu designer and all work is replaced with the way of working Drag-and-drop. Also added the ability to create small buttons in the menu for Revit (previously not supported).
And one of the best changes in the Configurator - now when you click on the "Buy" button in the list of functions, the site will be opened on the function page immediately with the selected version of the product and the registration key entered!
Also, in all functions, certain changes were made. But I think users are not particularly interested in reading the details of the technical side, so I'll describe the biggest changes to some functions (the same thing will happen in the history of the changes):
Auto layers (AutoCAD)
Added EATTEDIT and BEDIT commands to the exclusion list
Calculator (AutoCAD)
Added journal of operations - i.e. the calculated values and formulas are saved in a journal, in which you can watch them or repeat them. The journal is not saved anywhere and exists only while the function is open
Draworder by layer (AutoCAD)
Removed buttons "up" and "down", which are unnecessary due to the use of Drag-and-drop. Also fixed the problem of displaying layers that have a lower underscore in the name
Specifications (AutoCAD)
Fixed a bug with filling in the tables if there are subsections in the specification. Fixed the problem of enabling / disabling context menus - now you do not need to restart AutoCAD
Dwg base (AutoCAD)
Tools for working with the user database added the ability to rename the source file
ModPlus ESKD (AutoCAD)
Added a new intelligent primitive - a straight axis. The style editor is also added and the settings of the plugin. Many minor bug fixes
Sheet copy (Revit)
Added the ability to duplicate legends and schedules without copying views. Added alignment of the title block if it was inserted in the source sheet not at the origin. Fixed some bugs when copying viewports
Dimensions by line (Revit)
Completely rewritten function code. Now the function works not only on plans, but also on sections and facades
Dim offset (Revit)
Fixed error when trying to move a dimension value for a dmension whose value offset is not possible
What's next
And a little bit about further plans:
- Firstly - the most difficult for me - you need to localize the site. And this is a very large amount of painstaking work. It's time to get helpers...
- Secondly - if someone visits the site, I could see that the menu items have changed slightly and the "Web Installer" item appeared on the "Download" page. This very installer has long been asking for it to be written - it will allow installing the plug-in into a couple of clicks, bypassing all Configurator settings. But this is the most installer so far that there is only in my imagination - so this is the next development item
- Thirdly - I already have several ready-made functions (one for AutoCAD and three for Revit), which require adaptation and additions to the ModPlus plug-in. There are also a few ideas for new functions
- In the fourth - I plan to add a new option (and maybe two) to purchase paid functions. Since these are only ideas, while I will not disclose the cards
- Fifthly, we need to consider new options for obtaining discounts
- In the sixth, very soon new versions of Autodesk products are coming out, for which it will be necessary to support
